The Manifesto
When motivation disappears, the numbers still have to add up. That is the whole job.
You do not have to finish this page to start. Read now, or sign up and come back. Same product either way.
You do not need another app that makes you feel busy for thirty seconds.
You need a board that still tells the truth when you are tired, embarrassed, or bored.
Win in a way your own record can show, or Constants was never for you. Below is how we built it, and why we will not sand down the edges.
You are not here to be entertained by your own discipline
If you have ever closed a habit app feeling lighter but not actually different, you already know the trap.
Most products optimize for relief. Softer copy, forgiving streaks, little wins for opening the app. Good for their retention graph. Bad for you if it trains “I touched the app” to feel like “I changed my life.”
Picture a Wednesday when you do not feel like logging anything. The board still exists. The gap between how you feel and what you claim is where people quietly lose a year. We would rather you lose an afternoon of denial than a year of drift.
Most people optimize for feeling. We optimize for receipts.
You are not here for accountability theater. You are here for a ledger you cannot rewrite in your head at 2 a.m. What you did, when, and what you said when you missed, all of it stays on the record.
The Overseer is not a hype friend in a headset. It reads where you are and answers bluntly. Soft encouragement would hide what your record already shows.
If you want your story polished, you will hate this. If you want Monday to read like today, keep reading.
We measure what you did, not how motivated you felt
Motivation is cheap because it is easy to fake. Real accountability leaves a trace.
Completions have to mean more than a tap. The board turns at midnight. Marks do not vanish because you apologized in your head. The AI can miss on tone; it is not allowed to miss the pattern.
We optimize for one thing. Real behavior on the record per minute you spend here. Fewer soothing tricks, more durable signals. Comfort is not the product. You come here for the version of you that shows up in data.
If a feature spikes check-ins but cheapens honesty, it does not ship. You have watched discipline apps pick the soft option every quarter until they become toys. We are trying not to become that.
Skin in the game beats another story you tell yourself
The market sells motion. Motion feels like progress for a day. What compounds is proof you can still point at weeks later, after you showed up the way you said you would when it was inconvenient.
We only win if this changes how you behave. Fiction on the board means churn or ghost. We would rather over-explain upfront than smooth you into a subscription you resent.
Money buys leverage inside the product. Sharper tools, deeper scrutiny when you asked for it. Effort buys the change. Money without reps is a dashboard. Reps without honest logging is theater. The overlap is where your weeks start telling the truth.
AI compresses noise so you see the pattern and move. Desktop is the same bet. Your phone rents you out to other people. A desk session is where you steal long enough back to stack one honest day.
You deserve integrity, not another AI performance piece
You already know the lane. A chatty model that flatters you and nags sometimes. It scales. It also quits the second life gets hard.
Integrity is a technical problem first. If you batch-complete at 11:59 PM, that is a signal, not a moral lecture. Constants is allowed to notice. We are not being cruel. We are refusing to let the screen be a prop in “I did the work.”
You are not asked to perform purity. You are asked to tolerate being read.
You spin fast when consequences show up. So do we when nobody grades us. The Excuse Gate forces an answer before the fastest lie becomes the story. We would rather annoy you than help you lie to yourself.
Treat your habits like deals with your future self, not stickers
A habit here is a deal with who you will be tomorrow, not a sticker chart you reset when bored. Tune it if you need to. You do not get to erase the past and pretend it never happened.
Ghost scars exist because someday you will want to wipe failure off the board. The system says no.
Streak culture got sold as identity. We care about the honesty of the record. A long streak on soft rules is a story. A shorter streak on hard rules is harder to fake. Pick which one you trust when you actually want to change.
The Void keeps what you killed visible on purpose. Not so you can resurrect templates when motivation returns. So quitting stays expensive to forget.
Why we anchor you to desktop, and why midnight hits hard
Your phone is built to harvest attention. You know what you do on it when you are tired. The command surface does not belong next to doomscroll.
Desktop is where the habits that move your life usually get done. It also cuts the pile of “I checked it on the bus” half-truths.
Midnight is a clean edge. Yesterday is closed, not moral credit you roll forward. If that stings, ask what softer tools bought you. Usually more room to avoid the conversation with yourself.
Drag-through-the-fire is friction on purpose so “complete” is not a half-second tap with no intent. If it is on the board, it should still mean something when you scroll back.
The Arena is supposed to mirror you, not humiliate you for sport
Ranking can become shame-as-entertainment. That is not what we built. You see people on similar hardness, not an infinite feed tuned to rile you.
Hard Mode exists because partial credit smuggles compromise back into your record. Pick the harder path and the board does not pretend you did not. Labels follow what you did, not what you wish you did.
Elite is the serious tier, not a gold skin you buy for vibes
Elite is not more gold paint. It is tighter coupling. More memory, sharper risk signals, harder modes, tools for people who want a standard they cannot casually unwind.
Pricing moves with demand because support load and cohort size are real. We say that out loud. Soft accountability should not subsidize infrastructure for people who want the opposite.
Dead Man’s Switch is the extreme version of “do not let me rewrite the story quietly.” Verification and guardrails only. No button that can turn into anonymous harassment.
Witness links, proof, and where the real rules live
“Trust me” does not scale when you are the one asking. Witness links let someone verify your board without you live-streaming your life. Visibility is a tool you turn on, not a mandate to perform in public.
Money, data, refunds, and acceptable use live in the Terms and Privacy Policy. This page is philosophy, not a contract.
Verified member quotes go up when we have enough approved submissions. Until then, proof is your board, Witness links, and what a third party can verify without you turning your life into content.
We want a setup that stays honest on your worst days without turning into cynicism or fake cheer.
When you leave, we stop pretending nothing changed
When you stop paying, the product should stop pretending you are still on the same tier of commitment. That is not punishment. It is what subscription cost and long-run incentives actually look like if churn leaves zero footprint.
You will disagree about fair. Fair enough.
We are not asking you to like it. We are asking you to respect what three years of incentives do to software.
Here is the test we use. If leaving has no consequence, soft apps win short-term and hard accountability becomes theater long-term. We took the harder side because you did not come here for theater.
The Overseer gives you a briefing, not an endless chat thread
No infinite scroll pretending to coach. A briefing lists what held, what broke, what repeated, and what the record implies next. Sharp tone is allowed. Soft wording would blur the signal you asked for.
Hard feedback lands faster with human weight. Voice is optional for that reason. If it makes you more honest with the record, it stays. If it turns you into a performer for an imaginary audience, it fails like cheap motivation.
Infinite memory would let you negotiate forever with your own past. The window is capped so the digest stays on what kept showing up, not the version of you that you prefer to remember.
Who is this actually for?
You, if you want something that can say no. You, if you would rather an ugly chart than a pretty lie. You, if you are tired of being “supported” back into the same loop.
Not you, if the goal is a gentler story about your lapses. Other products already sell that. Comfort here is not free. When it shows up, we want it earned by work, not by us softening the copy.
Soft accountability is a valid choice. So is this. Pick one.
The worst case is paying for a hard system while you still play by soft rules. Then you pay twice, in money and self-respect.
If this sounds like something you can hold yourself to, step in.
